The name of this contest is called open brief film contest. Its called open brief because the short film can be about anything one wants it to be about. Of course if I want to get a good grade on the film I would need to do my research, have good film techniques, look and analyze other existing products, and brainstorm. To make the film a good ranking film you must make it enjoyable for the audience such as an emotional film that touches the audience emotionally or an interesting documentary that intrests the audience.
The design specifications of Mrs. Van der Steege are:
- Your film has to engage with a German speaking audience but does not have to be in German.
- Your film has to be a short film of between under 10 minutes long (refer to each competition’s guidelines – they are different).
- Your film must be entered in one of the contests provided or an alternative contest you will discuss with the teacher and get prior approval for.
- Your film must tell a story that will be meaningful to the audience – it must be audience focussed.
- You have to create all footage yourself
- You may only use copyright-free/royalty-free music or have to compose your own score (we will have a lesson on how to do this)
Design brief
- Short film should be 2/3 minutes long
- Should contain sound
- Background music
- Genre should be a documentary
- The audience should be able to relate with the interviewed people
- Natural lighting
- An intresting documentary about students and planes
- should include many interviewed students
- Should have a few camera angles to make it up going for the audience
